Ten reasons to Visit Finland in Summer - by Notes of Nomads

Last summer Notes of Nomads bloggers Jessica and Hi visited also Finnish Lakeland and stayed at a lakeside cottage called Kotiranta by lake Soukkio and enjoyed fishing under the mid of the night at a Midnight Sun Fishing trip

Their blog posting Ten reasons to Visit Finland in Summer starts like this: "It’s no secret that Finland is a pretty magical winter destination. Husky rides, snow, Santa’s village and, hello, the Northern Lights. It’s a veritable winter wonderland. What our recent trip to Finland showed us, however, was just how attractive Finland is in the summertime and why you need to come more than once to experience the complete contrast in seasons." Rent a cottage in Finland - arrival day can be any weekday

Private beach of rental cottage Kiviniemi by lake Soukkio
Now it is easy to plan your cottage holiday in Finnish Lakeland since arrival day to the rental cottages and villas by Lake Soukkio is any weekday. This way you'll also easier find for you suitable flights or ferry timetables. It is also easy to reach Finnish Lakeland since from Helsinki it is just less than 3 hours drive to cottages by Lake Soukkio or cottages by Lake Puula

Above you see the private beach and jetty of cottage Kiviniemi  Cottage Kiviniemi is a high-quality cottage for all-year-round use. Besides lots of privacy, lakeside nature and no neighbours in sight, the cottage is fully equipped, also with free WiFi and satellite channels. The lakeshore sauna building with its nice living room with fireplace, mini kitchen, barbeque and wonderful lake view is a treat.

Another cottage that offers same high quality and wonderful lakeside nature and clean water is cottage Tiilikka. Tiilikka is also for all-year-round use. Photo below and link to more info here

Even if Finnish Lakeland is exotic it is also safe and nature is pure. In winter time you can enjoy snow, frozen lakes, Aurora Borealis ( Northern Lights ), winter sports and the marvellous silence and fresh air.  Ice fishing is also fun, as well as sled riding.
Traditional Finnish horse sled riding. A Finnish horse is pulling.

In summer the lakes are warm for fresh water swimming and playing by the shore, as the children in the photo below. It is nice and relaxing to walk in the forest since there is not many mosquitos, almost no tics, if you see a snake it is historical (we haven't seen any for 30 years in the surroundings of Lake Soukkio) No bigger animals will hardly bother you either, but it is easy to see the marks of elks.
Water in many Finnish lakes is so clean that you can drink it, so swimming is also fun and safe
Summer time in Finnish Lakeland is also the time of Midnight Sun. It is amazing and something you have to experience. If you want to double up; choose to go for a Midnight Sun Fishing Trip Besides fishing it is a great opportunity to enjoy the big Lake Kyyvesi with fantastic views
